Therapy for Relationships and the People in Them

Hi, I'm Naila.

I am a relational therapist dedicated to helping people see themselves and others more fully. A multicultural upbringing in a blended family with seven brothers gave me an early, ongoing education in discovering individuality through relationship with others and led me to this work.

I see romantic partners, families, friends, and business partners, as well as individuals looking to learn about themselves through relational patterns and expand their sense of agency.

I view relationships as living systems that are continually co-created by the people involved. I take an active role in session, shaping dialogue and directing attention to help you step out of repetitive loops, contend with interpersonal differences, and feel more connected.

Whether you're exhausted by cyclical arguments, frustrated by constant friction, or lonely in a distant dynamic, we'll work together to find a different way through.

I have lived in New York, Northern Virginia, the Bay Area, and Baltimore. I have an MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Johns Hopkins University, where I also worked at the Center for Psychedelic and Consciousness Research. Accompanying people through altered states deepened my sense of what psychotherapy can open.

My approach is eclectic and integrative, tailored uniquely to each relationship or individual.

My work in psychedelic research, along with my interest in philosophy and Lacanian psychoanalysis, informs my therapeutic approach.

Below are some modalities I explicitly draw from.

Modalities

  • Psychodynamic

Much of what shows up in our relationships now has roots in earlier experience. I draw on a psychodynamic lens to look at how old patterns continue to organize present thoughts, behaviors, and ways of relating to loosen the past’s hold on the present. My work in this area is informed by ongoing psychodynamic supervision.

  • Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT)

EFT integrates attachment theory with systemic and experiential approaches to identify the emotional needs and cycles underneath conflict. Together, we'll work to shift from disconnection toward more secure, responsive bonds. I completed an externship in EFT for couples as part of my training in this model.

  • Gestalt

Gestalt therapy keeps us anchored in what's happening between us right now. Rather than only talking about a pattern, we'll notice it as it emerges in real time, in tone, pacing, silence, and what goes unsaid, which gives us a more immediate way of understanding what's repeating and why.

  • Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

I draw on cognitive-behavioral approaches to identify and intervene in the specific thoughts and behaviors that keep a pattern in motion. I trained specifically in Trauma-Focused CBT.

Struggle between people can be a major source of pain, but also a great gift.

By revealing the limits of perception, interpersonal conflict allows us to expand beyond what we are capable of alone.

Who I Work With

  • Romantic Partners

For partners across all relationship structures and identities, including monogamous, polyamorous, ethical non-monogamous (ENM), and LGBTQ+ dynamics.

  • Family Members

For family systems including parent-child pairs, adult siblings, and chosen family members seeking to transition out of rigid roles and build new ways of relating.

  • Friends

For close friends navigating a rupture, a major life transition that has shifted the dynamic, or a desire to deepen their mutual understanding.

  • Business Partners

For co-founders, creative collaborators, or business partners whose shared professional life requires a high level of relational alignment and clear communication.

  • Individuals

I work with individuals navigating relationships, anxiety, depression, cultural identity questions, family-of-origin issues, complex trauma, and the developmental challenges that come with their 20s and 30s, with special attention to connection with self and others.

If you don't see your relationship type listed here, please feel free to reach out.

What to Expect

  • We will start with a complimentary 15-minute phone or video call. This allows us to briefly discuss what you're facing and ensure my approach aligns with your goals.

  • If we choose to move forward, our first 2–3 sessions will serve as an in-depth assessment. If you're coming in with others, all members will meet together for every session. We will map the history of your relational patterns, identify your repetitive loops, and clarify what we're working toward.

  • From there, we enter regular, ongoing sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often will we meet?

To establish momentum and step out of repetitive patterns, we will begin by meeting weekly. As things shift and your communication becomes more collaborative and attuned, we can discuss transitioning to bi-weekly or monthly maintenance sessions.

What are your fees?

My fees are structured by session length and session type:

Relationship sessions

  • 75-minute session (recommended): $290

  • 60-minute session: $230

Individual sessions

  • 50-minute session: $190

Sliding scale options are available based on need.

Do you take insurance?

I practice as an out-of-network provider and do not bill insurance companies directly. Maintaining a transparent, out-of-network structure allows me to focus entirely on your needs without external diagnostic constraints.

Upon request, I can provide a monthly invoice (superbill) that you may submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement. I recommend calling your insurance company beforehand to verify your out-of-network behavioral health benefits.
